Paranormal Beliefs

We have become disillusioned as a society.  We don’t believe in much these days.   While skeptics serve a purpose, I fear skeptics are taking over.    Now, I’m not talking about religion (that’s a whole other can of worms).  I’m talking about the paranormal.    I used to think that people would believe in UFO’s, ghosts, bigfoot, and other things if they saw it with their own eyes.  I no longer believe this.  With all of the opinions I’ve read that people have, I don’t believe people will believe.

If an apparition suddenly stands before these disillusioned people, they won’t believe it.  They’ll think they are just imagining it or something they ate went bad.  Even if the ghost yells “Helloooooooo! I’m a ghost!”  and you can see right through them, the non-believer won’t believe.   So it’s common sense that pictures of ghosts are immediately rejected and explained away by these people.

If they see a light in the sky, they’ll say it’s just a helicopter or an airplane, or even a satellite.  I bet that even if they were abducted and probed, they’d try to take masks off of the aliens.

As for bigfoot and other cryptids?  If they had the dead body of a sasquatch in front of them, they’d search for wires and seams to prove it’s a fake.

I have seen a UFO.  I have had encounters with a few ghosts. I have heard things, felt things and seen things that are paranormal.

I will go right on believing.  I will not be one of the disillusioned.   I believe in the paranormal but I don’t believe in people.

I had an adventure with one of my characters

I think I have been reading too many paranormal romance novels lately and I've been writing too much or focusing too much(if there is such a thing) in my book.

Last night, I dreamed of the ghost in my book. His name is Eric. In the dream, I was in bed, trying to get to sleep when the room grew cold. I saw the air sort of shimmer next to my bed and Eric manifested there. He looked as he does in my book, tall, shoulder length hair, nice build, see through and yummy. lol

"What...How?" I started to say as I sat up in bed.

"We have business to attend to. Come with me." Eric said and held out his hand.

"But..." I was still shocked to see him standing there, a character I created.

"Come. I'll explain later. We must leave now." Eric insisted.

I took his hand and before I could get out of bed, Eric and I disappeared from my bedroom. A second later, and we were in a forest but I didn't know where. Eric looked around as if looking for something, then we disappeared again. We reappeared in a strange home. Again, Eric looked around for something. Before I could say anything, we disappeared again. Now, my stomach was starting to act up. You go popping into various places and see how your stomach acts. lol

When we reappeared again, we were in what I guessed was a castle. It had stone walls, torches instead of lamps, drafty, dark and looked cool. Eric started looking around again but before we could disappear again, I yanked my hand away and stepped back.

"What is the matter?" Eric asked.

"Has it occurred to you that I can't handle poofing around like that?" I snapped at him and leaned against the wall for support. "Just what are you looking for anyway? Why did you drag me out of bed?"

"I thought you knew. You created me." Eric replied.

"I know I created you but that I doesn't mean I know what's going on. Just tell me." I asked him.

"We have to leave. She isn't here." Eric replied. He took my hand again and we disappeared again.

Now, I found myself in a field that I recognized from my book. "That's it. I've had enough." I yelled at him.

"We don't have time for this." Eric told me calmly.

"Then tell me what the Hell is going on!" I yelled.

Eric sighed, "Something went wrong."

"Ya think?" I snapped.

Eric remained quiet as he paced in the field beside me. When he finally stopped pacing, he looked at me once and then disappeared, leaving me in the field alone.

"You can't leave me here!" I yelled after him. "Asshole!"

Then I woke up. lol I don't think there are many writers who dream of their character from their book. Why I dreamed it is a mystery. It doesn't really follow the plot of my book. I think it's just a sign that I read too much. Of course, out of all the characters I have created in my 3 books, I am glad I dreamed of him. He was yummy. lol Just wish he told me what was going on. lol

Ghostly Dream!

So, I went to lay down in bed because I was cold and ended up falling asleep. It was only 8pm and I didn't think I'd fall asleep but I did and now I'm glad. I had one of my strange dreams and this one was spooky.

The dream starts and I’m picking up a camcorder from an unused room out of the house. It was an old video camera that used VHS tapes. I saw it had a tape and turned on the camera. Didn’t catch what was on the tape the first time because I turning off a TV in that spare room I was in. I carried the camera out and started to watch it. I ran into Dad who was walking into that spare room to watch a star wars movie. He walked passed and I rewound the tape to start from the beginning again.

The scene on the tape was a nursery, I could see a big room, with an empty crib in it and it was dark. It was like one of those night vision scenes you see on TV. Dark, but you could still see things with the night vision. It looked like somebody was holding the camera and following something. The crib moved slightly like somebody bumped into it but nobody was there. Behind the crib was a counter and sink with drawers under the counter. A drawer opened with an unseen hand and closed again. The faucet turned on and then off, again with an unseen hand. I couldn’t hear any breathing on the tape, no footsteps, but I could hear the sound of the crib moving, the drawer opening and closing and the water from the faucet. The camera turned slightly from the faucet to another drawer opening and closing. Then light appeared as a nearby door opened and closed with nobody near it. Nobody alive anyway.

As I stood there watching the tape, I rewound it again and watched it again. I thought, I have to see if dad can somehow get this on the computer for me. I knew nobody would believe it but I was dying to share this. Plus getting it on a bigger screen might help me see somebody I can’t see on the smaller view screen on the camera.

I walked into the room I just left and Dad at first was laying in a hospital bed watching Star wars. Then he got out of the hospital bed and fumbled with a huge screen tv to get it hooked up so he could watch his movie on that. I watched the scene again on the camera and that’s when I woke up.

Spooky as hell and I was very excited about it too. lol

Thoughts

All my life, I've wanted to be a writer. So I've read tips from other writers about it. One tip I remember is to write down all your thoughts. No matter how insignificant it may be or how random, write it down. That random thought may just be an inspiration to a story or an idea of a scene.
Smiley from millan.net
If I wrote down all my thoughts, I wouldn't have time for anything else. Besides, some thoughts just don't belong outside of my head. Trust me on that. Smiley from millan.net However, I may start writing some thoughts down. I'd like to get back to writing again but have felt like creativity had left me. Maybe by writing down my thoughts, it will help get some of those creative juices flowing again.

I've ghosts on the brain for a while and really love reading ghost stories, true or fiction. Maybe I can write a ghost story. Or even just write down my personal experiences. I could turn my experiences into a story. Smiley from millan.net

The problem with writing is that when inspiration strikes me, I'm usually at work and can't do the writing I really want to do it and focus my thoughts on it. And when I get home from work, I'm usually too tired and brain dead to do much of anything.

Perhaps I will start using this blog to write down my thoughts. I think it will help and you lucky readers will get a look into my mind whether you like it or not. Smiley from millan.net

A new Dream

The Dream begins with me watching TV in my apartment. It was a news story about a young American Indian girl (about 9 or 10 years old) who’s mother just died in a car accident. The girl knew she had a grandmother but couldn’t didn’t know her name (other than Grandma) or where she lived. This was a follow up story for they found the Grandmother’s house and they were surprising the girl with a reunion. As the news crew and the young girl arrived at the house, the girl recognized it immediately and jumped out of the car and started running to the house, yelling “Grandma!”. It was an old house with wood painted white but the pain was flaking off. Before the girl could reunite with Grandma, I shut the tv off.

The dream jumps ahead a bit. In the dream, I woke up to go to the bathroom and when I got back to bed, there were 3 small mirrors in my bed. You know the kind of make up mirrors on a stand like this one? Each Mirror was slightly different but this gives you an example.

I stared at the mirrors for a minute and looked at Pipsqueek who was sleeping peacefully. I picked up the mirrors and put them on a dresser nearby. In my sleepy state in the dream, It didn’t occur to me that I didn’t own these mirrors in the first place and they shouldn’t even be in my apartment. After putting the mirrors on the dresser, I crawled into bed. As I relaxed to get back to sleep, it suddenly dawned on me…“wait, where did that dresser come from?” I don’t own a dresser like that, it was hip height and about 4 feet wide. I sat up and looked at the dresser and then saw a large mirror just above the dresser. I started to freak out. “What’s going on? That’s not my mirror or dresser?” I jumped out of bed and went to the dresser and ran my hand on it to verify it was really there. “Calm down. It’s just furniture. Furniture that appeared out of nowhere!”

I turned back to the bed and those 3 make up mirrors were back on my bed. I was truly scared at this point. I looked at the mirrors on my bed and then at the mirror above the dresser and suddenly I just knew… The mirrors and the dresser belonged to the mother of that young girl I saw on TV. I was terrified. I looked up at the mirror above the dresser and saw the shape of a woman. It was completely black so I saw no details, just the shape but the shape appeared to come closer and closer in the mirror.

And that is when I woke up.. When I woke up, I was actually still scared and sweating beyond belief. I don’t know what it was about this dream that scared me so much but as I wandered to the bathroom without turning any lights on, I avoided looking at my mirror.

The Dream of Insanity

I had been wondering which of my dreams to post on here next but I couldn't decide on one. Luckily, that was decided last night. Here's my latest dream and it gives you an idea of what my dreams are like. One thing to note is that when I say I was scared in a dream, I mean it. I feel everything in dreams, I experience everything. Keep that in mind as you read.

Dream February 2, 2008
The dream started with me going into a building with a guy who turned out to be Peter Falk. This Peter Falk was smooth talking, a gentlemen and very nice, not annoying like the Columbo character. He was wearing a white suit and black bow tie that looked very nice on him. I was in a white dress that had peach colored flowers on it (I think I have this dress in my closet somewhere, LOL) and white sandals. I was carrying a camera and we walked into this dark building, I didn’t see the front of it so I don’t know what it looked like. Inside, there weren’t any lights on at all but Peter had a flashlight. The place was jam packed with various items like mannequins, lamps, couches, paintings, statues, etc. So we had to be careful where we walked.

I was snapping off pictures and would hold the camera above my head to get above the obstructions. Peter was talking about the history of the place but I wasn’t listening. I was actually very frightened but continued taking pictures and following Peter. At one spot, I took a picture of the corner with camera above my head and I saw the preview picture on the camera. I swore I saw Hitler in the photograph and looked at the picture closely. I said “Oh my God! Peter, you have to see this.” And I caught up to Peter holding the camera out to show him the picture.

He looked and said “Where did you take this?” I pointed out the spot and he shined his flashlight over there. The light went quickly over Hitler’s face and I shrieked. I was standing there pointing with a shaky hand and not taking my eyes off of it. Then, Peter took the flashlight and slammed the back of my head with it, knocking me out. As I lay there on the floor, Peter said “I wish you didn’t see that.” Then he walked off, humming happily.

The next scene is Peter pouring himself a drink from some unlabeled undecorated glass bottle. He had a cigarette in one hand and the drink in the other. He turned around and looked at me and I was now on a really pale pink couch, leaning over the arm of the couch. I came to and the ice clinked in Peter’s glass as he took a drink. I groaned and sat up and looked at Peter with wide eyes. “Why did you hit me?” I asked.

Peter responded, “Because I can’t let you know what this place is.”

“What the Hell does that mean? We’re here 10 minutes and I know this place isn’t ‘right’ and you hit me with a freakin’ flash light? You moron!” I stood up and swayed a bit, landing me back on the couch. I got up again and ignored the swaying and stormed off. Leaving Peter whistling behind me.

As I rounded a corner, I saw another couch but with a pure white statue sitting on it, leaning forward, looking at a ballerina statue in front if it. I could see it was a man and he was reaching for the ballerina to make the music play. I know it was a statue so seeing it move scared me. I shrank back around the corner and I could still hear Peter whistling but he was somewhere else in the building now. Thinking my eyes were playing tricks on me, I calmed myself and walked right up to the statue. Only now, it was leaning back against the couch back with it’s head resting on the back of the couch. At first, it was Abraham Lincoln. Then as I approached, it changed into Vincent Price!!! It was still a statue but now it looked like Vincent Price. While it was changing, I could see it’s eyes darting from side to side. Now totally freaked out, I screamed and ran. Suddenly I could hear what sounded like stone on stone. It was the statue coming after me.

I kept running and ran right into a warm body. Yup, it was Peter. He took a drag from his cigarette and blew smoke at me and grinned evilly. “Sorry sugar, you’re not going anywhere.” I scream again (who knew I was such a screamer?) and turned to run the other way and was blocked by the statue. I turned again and ran and Peter was nowhere to be found. I found the path where we first came in and also found the flashlight that Peter used on me. I picked up the flashlight and scanned the cluttered room. Not seeing anything, I looked on the floor for my camera and found it nearby. For some reason, it seemed nature at this point to turn it on and take more pictures. I aimed the camera back the way I came and the statue was getting nearer. I took a quick couple of pictures and the flash seemed to have stopped him. He didn’t move anymore. I raised the camera above my head and took more pictures. I saw that I found Hitler again but now there was something else there. Hitler had a friend. I looked at the picture on the camera closely, and zoomed in on it. It was Peter Falk, with one hand on Hitler’s shoulder and the other hand waving at me.

That’s when I woke up!

Now, if I haven't scared you off, please leave a comment or question and dont' forget my poll on the right. Thank you and Pleasant dreams!

The Ghost of Abigail Jones

Welcome to my blog. Pull up a chair and let me tell you a story. Or rather, a dream. I have the most detailed and bizarre dreams. To some, they seem terrifying. But not to me. I enjoy my dreams and I really enjoyed this one when I dreamt it and when I wrote it all down. Someday, I will make a book out of this so I'm sorry folks but no one is allowed to copy it and make a book or do anything with it except for me. Until that happens, enjoy the dreams of a writer's twisted mind.

Dream Sept 24, 2007

The dream started with me walking thru a huge building. I believe it was an abandoned college and I was walking thru a hallway sticking my head in the doors of the empty classrooms. Walls were grey and the doors were wooden, light reddish color. It’s not quite nighttime yet, the sun hasn’t set so it is still light enough in the college that flashlights aren’t needed. A group of people is ahead of me about 40 feet away and they are taking pictures and talking. A voice behind me asks, “So, what’s the history with this place?” I turn and it’s Cheryl from work, her desk is right next to mine. I stand beside her as she looks inside a classroom.

I say “This place was abandoned 50 years ago because the students kept dropping out or transferring and they couldn’t get new students to come here. What little new students they got, left pretty quickly.”

“Why?” Cheryl asks.

I pull out photos from my bag that is hanging diagonally across my shoulder. “This is why.” I show Cheryl the photos and point out the oddities. “Do you see this shape right here? What does it look like to you?”

Cheryl replies “A woman. Must have been a developing error.”

“Can’t be that. These were taken from a digital camera.” I pause and pull out a picture of a painting. It’s a woman from the 18th century. “This is Abigail Jones. She died in sometime in the 1780’s, we can’t find the exact year. Story has it that Abigail’s husband built a house right where this college is now. Abigail and her husband were the perfect couple at first but then she caught her husband cheating on her so she sought revenge. She wanted the revenge to be painful in every way she could think of so she contacted a local voodoo queen and asked for a curse. The exact wording of the curse was lost over time but the story says that the voodoo queen worded the curse in such a way that if the husband really wasn’t cheating on her, then Abigail would be the one cursed and not the husband. Abigail would have to pay for being wrong. We’re not sure of what happened next but it is said that a scream was heard coming from the house. A neighbor saw the husband running from the house, never to be seen again. The neighbor went inside to check on Abigail and was found the next day with a look of terror upon his dead face. No one knows what happened to Abigail but she was never seen again either. At least, not in the flesh.”

I smirked at Cheryl who looked at me and said “Oh nice, Katie. Great story but what really happened?”

I laughed and said “Actually, that is the story that was handed down thru the neighbors family for generations. I heard the story myself from the last family member, a little old woman of 90. She has her own theories of what happened but wouldn’t share them with me.” I went thru the stack of pictures and as I was looking, a hand brushed on my arm. I look around me and didn’t see anybody around but I didn’t say anything so that I didn’t frighten Cheryl. I go back to the photos and find the ones I want. I pull them out and show Cheryl. “Now look at these pictures. I took these myself. What do you see?”

Cheryl looked at the pictures carefully and then went thru them again. Finally she speaks up. “This first one, I see a face, there on the railing. This one here, I see a profile of a woman, no details just shadow. And this one here…”

Cheryl pauses to pull out one photo to the top as a woman walks by us. She didn’t make a sound, no sound of footsteps, no swish of clothes, nothing. The woman is wearing faded blue jeans and a black short sleeve top and her hair is dark, dark black and falls to her upper back between the shoulder blades.

Cheryl continues, “This one, I think it’s a problem with the picture itself. Maybe an old picture was left on the memory card and made its way onto this picture? It looks like a woman to me.” Cheryl pauses again to get a closer look, I spot the woman with black hair stopped in the door way of a classroom 10 feet away. Cheryl goes on, “It’s a woman with black hair, and if it’s a ghost, it can’t be Abigail because the clothes are all wrong. This woman is wearing blue jeans and a black shirt, and look at the hair style. Women of that era did not wear their hair like this.” Cheryl stops because she noticed I’m not looking at the picture anymore. I’m watching that lady in the door way who has her back to us. Cheryl doesn’t notice the resemblance to the woman in the photo so I mouth the word “Look” and point to the picture and then to the woman. Cheryl looks several times from the woman to the picture and back again. Cheryl says “But that’s impossible. It’s just a coincidence. She’s not a ghost, she’s solid.”

The woman in the doorway slowly turns towards us and walks to us in a way that radiates evil to me. She stops about 1 foot away from me says in a low voice “Mind if I look?” Cheryl turns the picture around and shows the woman who then chuckles in a low voice. “Of course you got me from my bad side. Maybe this will help clear your doubts.” Suddenly the woman’s face turns evil like this picture and she screams at us, a horrible roar like scream.

Cheryl and I both scream and run down the hallway past the group of people and down to the first floor but we get lost and can’t find the front door. We ran right into another woman. I don’t know this woman, she has blonde hair down to her ears and the hair is kind of on the curly poofy side. The woman says “Stop! You’re going the wrong way. I’ll show you the exit. She can’t get you once you are outside.”

I ask this new lady “Who are you and how do you know she can’t get us outside?”

We follow the woman and she responds. “My name isn’t important but I know who you are running from. I know her very well for I have been trying to stop her for countless eons. She is trapped in this building. She can’t step foot outside. And before you ask, yes, that once was Abigail but it’s not anymore. The physical features are Abigail but that entity is far older and far more evil than Abigail ever was. Tell me, did she touch you?”

I respond, “I felt someone touch my arm but I couldn’t see who did it.”

The lady responds, “yes, it was her. You must get out of here now before it’s too late! Did she speak to you? Did you see her?”

I tell her what happened upstairs and what made us run in terror. The lady continues, “So, she has chosen you then. It’s imperative that you leave. Now!”

“Chosen me? For what?” The lady doesn’t respond, so I grab her arm and repeat “What has she chosen me for?!”

“I’ll tell you once we are outside. Now come!”

Cheryl, the new lady and I are running now, down another hallway and its getting darker outside so light is dwindling inside. I spot the evil entity standing in a doorway like she was upstairs. I point a shaky hand at her and the new lady, whispers to us, “Don’t stop! Go! Hurry!” We manage to get by the entity but just as we pass her, she steps out of the door way and is now behind us. I continue running but with my head turned to watch this entity. The entity runs up to me and just as she reaches me, her face turns from this picture to something far worse. And that is when I woke up. I could feel the terror of seeing that face, hearing that roar like scream and running down a hallway and being chased thru an abandoned college that is growing darker and darker. No wonder I didn’t go back to sleep after that.
